Would you like to scuba dive, but snorkeling is more your style? Are you looking for an amazing snorkeling destination while in Honolulu? You can’t beat Hunauma Bay Marine Preserve! It offers crystal clear water, reefs close to shore, and calm waters. You will not find a better snorkeling spot on the island!! As soon as you enter the water, you will be amazed by the different sealife that you will encounter. Everything from the wide variety of colorful tropical fish; to the occasional sea turtle will surprise and delight you! All you need to enjoy the experience is the correct information…and we are here to help!

Tips for visiting Hunauma Bay

1. GET THERE EARLY! The bay opens at 6:00 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. There is a small parking lot at the bay. When it has reached capacity, no one else is allowed into the bay. (Limiting the amount of patrons helps to perserve the bay) Get there early or you’ll really miss out!

2. BRING CASH! Parking at the bay is $1.00 and admission is $5.00. They don’t accept any credit cards or checks. The nearest ATM is miles away.

3. GET READY TO WAIT! Before entering the bay, you will have to sign a ledger and watch a short 8 minute video about the perserve. If the line for the movie is long, you might be waiting for a few.

4. SNORKELING GEAR! Bring gear from home or rent it at the bay! Either way, you are going to need it!

5. A LITTLE HIKING! Be prepared for a steep walk down to the beach and back up again. If you would prefer, you can take the shuttle for and additional $.50 cents! What a bargin!

6. FORGET TUESDAY! Don’t plan to go to the bay on Tuesday! It will be closed! The fish get a break from the humans that day!

7. DISPOSIBLE UNDERWATER CAMERA! Bring it…trust me! You’ll wish you did!
